Registering
for the Gateway
If all you plan to do is use
the local D-Star repeater for local rag chewing and nets, and don't
plan on connecting to other Gateways, or contact a local Ham who has
moved into another repeater, then you don't need to register for the
Gateway. But in order to fully utilize your radios
capabilities you should get on the Gateway.
Registering for the Gateway is
a two step approach....
Step
One....
Log onto the W3OI
Gateway server and register for an account. You can get to the
server at https://w3oig2.dyndns.org/Dstar.do
or if that doesn't work try this link http:dsync.dstarusers.org/GW2Status.pl
and scroll down the page until you see the W3Oi callsign, and then
double click the callsign.
In both cases you will
probably get a message about a security certificate -- answer the message
to "ignore" and"continue anyway". Once on
the Gateway main screen go down to the "New User? section and
click the "Register" button.
On the next screen enter
your Callsign in Upper Case, and then type in your
first and last name, email address and a password you want to
use. Please make sure you make note of this password, as it
can not be retrieved if you forget it.
Once this is completed,
you need to send an email to dstar at
wb3w.net so the administrators can approve the entry.
Step
Two....
Once you
receive an email back from the Administrators, you need to log back
onto the Gateway, and complete your registration. Go to one of the
links above, and enter your callsign (uppercase) and password, and
then click the "Logion" button.
After
logging on click the "Personal
Information"
link at the top right of the page. Then go down to the entry
number 1, and click the box to the left of the "1.",
and your cursor should move to a box under the "Initial"
heading. Press the "space bar" key once in the
"Initial" box, tab past the RPT box to the
"pcname" field. Type in your callsign in the
"pcname" field (lower case this time), and then click
the "Update" button. You should get a message
that it is processed, and at this point you can use all features of
the Gateway.
Make
sure to Exit you click the "Logout" button on the top
right of the page.
This
step is the one that assigns an Internet IP address to your
callsign/radio, so that you can be accessed anywhere in the world
you are on a D-Star Gateway.

Please
Note --- You only need to register on one Gateway and this allows
you to use all Gateways worldwide -- DO NOT register on more than
one Gateway, as this will cause problems with your account.
