OVERVIEW:
Paclink will require configuration before it can be used
for Either an Internet Telnet or Radio packet connection. However, once
done, there should be little need to change it afterwards, other than to add
additional email account addresses.
The steps below should be completed in the order shown.
But, in order to active any email address
setup in Paclink Post Office and be able to receive email at this address you
must FIRST send an
email to anyone so that the main Winlink PMBO's can register this address in
the network. You can use
Telnet Channel that will be in one of the steps below.
SETUP
Paclink Post Office:
| Double click on the
Paclink
AGW Icon on the desktop |
 |
A pop-up menu will appear
asking if you want to configure Paclink Postoffice -- Click
OK, and you will see the screen below:
|

A. Enter a RADIO
callsign. It should be your base call without an SSID
prefix.
B. Enter a Password
(this will also be used in Outlook or other email client).
C. Leave the CMS sites
with the default. These are only used for registering a call
sign.
D. Click the Local
or
LAN button, that way it will always be available to any other
computers
on the network.
E. The SMTP and POP3 ports
normally default to 25 and 110.
If you have a problem with a virus
program than change them to
something like shown in the above screen shot. (You will also have to change
in
the Outlook or other email client account.
F. You should click the Auto
@ Startup button, so it stays current with updates.
When complete you will get a pop-up menu
confirming the setup and that the account has been
setup in Outlook
Express.

account

Now, click
File
and then Channels,
on the top menu bar
of Paclink AGW, and you will see the screen below.
Paclink AGW can be configured to
connect with up to five connections that are prioritized from 1 to 5. Normally
the first one would be a Telnet Internet connection, and then numbers 2
through 5 could be nearby Telpac Gateways.
Paclink AGW will start to initiate a
connection with the first Channel in the list, and if unavailable, will then
move to the next in the list.
The example below is for a Telnet
Internet connection.
|

A. Check the Telnet button.
B. Enter a Channel Name for
this connection. It can be anything that is meaningful to you.
C. Assign Channel Priority
(Normally the Telnet Internet connection should be No. 1, and
check
the Channel Enabled button. Leave the
Keyboard
Mode unchecked.
D. Since this is a Telnet connection all of the
options in the Packet Properties area
will be shaded
and nothing will be entered there.
E. Fill in a Remote
Callsign and Remote Telnet Host address.
These are available on the
Winlink
web site, or from your local
Emcomm group.

entries.
G. Click the Update
this Channel button.

check
the Channel Enabled button. Leave the Keyboard
Mode unchecked.
D. Since this is a Packet connection all of the

area will be
shaded and nothing will be entered there.

Additional Accounts:
The steps listed above are all that is needed to use
Paclink with only one mail address. At some point if you want to add
additional addresses (e.g. at the EOC Office) then you would use the screen
below by clicking the Accounts Option
off the top menu bar in the Paclink Post Office program.
Additional accounts called Tactical Addresses can
also be setup
The screen is shown to the right, and has instructions for account
names, etc.
When finished click the Add
an Account button.
If you were at an EOC or other served agency, and wanted them to
send and receive email through your Paclink program, here is where you
would setup their new email account names.
|

The address will then be registered with the
Winlink network, and you will receive a pop-up confirming this --
Click OK.
